Educational psychology is a branch of psychology. Focusing on Education, the study includes every subject involved during the teaching and learning process. The main subject is the learners. Main goals of Educational psychology

  1. To help teachers to understand students better

Students are varied individually. The variation has been categorized in the study to help teachers in identifying the students’ types. There are several categories. The example is students learning styles. Based on this category, students belong to visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners.

Those children show their own characteristics and have their own needs during the learning process. There are more aspects of students’ characteristics such as age, maturity, motivation, learning style, Intelligence level, and others. Once you know a student with his/her characteristics, you can choose the most suitable teaching method in delivering the material and how to deal with your student.

  1. To carry out an effective and meaningful learning process

Understanding students’ characteristics takes time and processes. For the early stage, a teacher can observe and identify the students with the help of some instruments and tests. To make such tests and instruments, Educational psychology has an important role as the theoretical foundation.

The results of the tests will be the teacher’s consideration in choosing and applying teaching strategies, designing daily Idnplay poker activities, using practical languages, deciding reward and punishment methods, designing the learning assessment and evaluation, and others. Those help teachers in establishing an effective and meaningful learning process.

During the learning process, some students might show some problems like learning difficulties, lacking motivation, bullying, etc. To solve the problems, a teacher should be careful and aware of the student’s personality and the background of the problems. After understanding the characteristics, with the help of Educational psychology, the teacher could find the rightest approach in solving the problems.

Educational psychology is not merely a branch to facilitate students’ learning. It is a wide branch that needs to be explored by teachers. After applying the theories in the classroom, the teachers could follow up with research. The finding of the research is the teachers’ contribution to this branch.
